1084, double edge forged in diamond cross section. Started with 1/4 thick 1 1/2 inch wide 1084 from Mace and Aldo at Ashokan. Cleaned a bit of the scale off with an angle grinder and 120 grit, then cleaned that up with my big stone wheel(350 grit). still some scale to take off though. Cleaned up the profile a bit too. Cleaned up As forged Blank shape rough forged and cutt off of parent bar, no bandsaw for profiling i like to get as much use out of a section of this godly material as possible. In the fire!

Yup that is her:D. Works like a charm, I can heat up to a maximum of 4 inch square, but I would need a power hammer or strikers to forge it. That is my hardy cutter i made from a section of truck/car(lorry) axle. I used it to hammer hot steel over to cut it to length. Basically just a chisel pointing up that fits in the hardy, nott too tight or it will snap off your heel if it get's a bit hot and expands, but not too loose so it rattles all over. I recently made a 45 degree one from a section of leaf spring i'll get some pictures up of that one, bit easier to make.

Nice one. I really hope the anvil we bought has a hardy hole, or else all the tools we bought will be really annoying to use. I'll just clamp them in a vice or something.

Yeah if not the vice works GREAT! I call mine an adjustable hardy hole all the time:D. Best thing about using the vice is you can get all these odd sized hardies from junk sales antiqque shops and stuff and they don't have to fit your hardy hole to use them.

John had a huge great bucket of old hardy-tools at the back of his shop. He was selling them really cheap as well. That's where I got my nice curved scrolling tool. Just wish I could use it.
