So now that I've acquired a few pointy toys I'm thinking about getting something to carry them around with, in the event I ever need to for some reason (hey you never know...), but I've got a couple of problems. One, I've determined that I fence better left-handed, which rules out a lot of frogs. Two, I'm apparently a bit of a fatboy as my 42 inch waist falls just outside that of a lot of commercial sword belts. Grabbed a Windlass "dagger frog" the other day which is almost too big for my bastard, but I need smaller stuff as I'm more of a rapier/dagger guy. So what are my options here? Aside from KOA I've checked GDFB but they don't have much and I'm not keen on international orders if it can be helped. I'm open to custom jobs as well (looking at you Slayer ) but I do want to keep the costs down since I'm more interested in functional, minimalist stuff that gets the job done without being really fancy.

Well, if you want to go inexpensive, there's this route: www.medievalcollectibles.com/p-3 ... -frog.aspx or www.medievalcollectibles.com/p-3 ... -frog.aspx Both of these come in right or left-handed and a ring belt, which is mostly free-sized (I'd recommend the 60 inch version, though; it'll fall about mid-thigh, but if you want it to drop to about below the knee, get the 72 inch): www.medievalcollectibles.com/p-3 ... -belt.aspx There are also rapier belts, but they're quite a bit more expensive.

Ohh neat, I like that three-buckle thing. Their dagger frog looks like it'd work too, for main gauche or possibly sidesword. I've looked at rapier belts, but aside from the waist size thing I find a lot of them are way too ostentatious for my tastes. All that leather and bling must weigh more than the sword! This Windlass sword belt is definitely more my style, though it won't work for obvious reasons. I might be willing to commission something like that, but it'd depend on the cost--I don't want to drop $100+ on a simplistic sword belt I don't have much use for.

I don't see why the Windlass one wouldn't work, since it seems that you can adjust it to fit both lefties and righties, though I'd personally be worried about the fact that the sheath could probably slip through the slots; that what you're talking about?

You can also talk to some of the people here, I know a few of us are pretty handy with leather.
