Haha. Long as you don't mind using your free time for it, go ahead. I won't complain. By the way, I meant to put this in my last message, but forgot about it since I'm trying to adjust to a new computer (the wireless on my laptop died and it won't shut down properly for some reason), but that XIV is sweet. I don't think I've ever seen a two handed XIV before; and the blued fittings with that orangish-tan wrap looks excellent. And the XIII reminds me a bit of a Kriegschwert on steroids.

That is EXACTLY what I imagined (aside from the guard). Superb work, dude!
Man, that thing just screams "odinblade". If only I had some cash.

So, if I may make some suggestions for continuing with the "elongated albions" theme: the Poitiers, the Squire, the Caithness, the Prince, and the Vigil. Hell, let's throw in the Berserkr just for semprinis 'n giggles.
What can I say? I like your work.

The Poitiers would pretty much become the Agincourt, and the Squire turn into the Crecy with a different grip, wouldn't they? The Caithness would become sort of a proto-claymore, that could be interesting. The Prince should make a very handsome XVIa. The Vigil - which is based on one of my all-time favorite historical swords - could be made into a XIIa with unusually long double fullers. The Berserkr, on the other hand, I think I'd like to keep fairly short, adding more mass than reach. Heh. I've got enough ideas for a good long while, there.

just a quick question: how long does it take to draw a sword like this? just to measure how much respect i should give you

Depends. Technically the rendering is just about establishing a bunch of vectors and gradients, which is not at all complicated or time consuming. The real time waster is figuring out the exact shapes in my head. The more complex the desing, the longer it takes, but on the other hand things similar to what I've done before are faster because I've already done part of the thoughtwork. That "XIVa" took a couple of hours, a large part of which was spent figuring out how the concave bevel on the tapered pommel works in three dimensions.

The type XIV longsword looks amazing. Does anyone have a sword like this in production?

MOK, my friend, you keep outdoing yourself. That thing is simply gorgeous and would look perfect in Conan's hand or at his side. It's powerful without being over-the-top, but it also looks quick; like Conan, in other words. If only I could get as good as you, I wouldn't have to bug you to help redo my own designs at times.

Thanks! I've gotten fond of this type of pommel lately, so here's another: an early XIIIa warsword with a gaddhjalt-style guard and a cocked hat pommel, both with some inlaid bronze wire. A 35-inch blade, a 7-inch grip and again 44 inches overall.

The cocked hat pommel normally looks rather goofy to me for whatever reason, but that just works on so many levels with that bronze wire; it's subtle, but it's also in your face.

Oh, they are kinda goofy. That's really just part of the charm.

And one more, because I can't seem to get the concept off my mind. This one's 46 inches overall, with a 35.5-inch blade of type XIIa, Oakeshott type 7 guard, an 8-inch grip, and another Geibig type 13 pommel, one of my favorite designs - it's essentially a brazil nut with two bites taken out of it.

Oh yeah, I did a Venetian icepick earlier this week, just haven't gotten around to uploading it. So here it is, an ear dagger with an 12-inch blade and 3.5-inch grip. The furniture is ebony and brass, with silver gilt rivets.

Never much cared for the ear style of grip (it just looks weird and I can't figure out the purpose), but that blade is gorgeous.
