Here is a treadle hammer i made, took 15 1/2 hours start to finish in one day, from 10:30am Sunday to 2:45am Monday morning. Hits hard, the head weight is about 20 pounds, has enough control to tap lightly or hit HARD. It's about 7 1/2 feet tall to the highest point. Probably weighs in at 300 or 400 pounds total.

Sure I do; I've just been gone for a bit. I'm off to a show. What is your frame made of and how do you guide the ram?

I dont know much about this, but the picture tells a thousand words. Very cool little piece for your new shop. You have been busy. I think youve earned a Karma point.

what is the benefit of a treadle hammer over say... an english wheel. they seem to do the same thing. just wondering. They are two completely different tools? I don;t even know where to begin to try to explain how differently they work. Sure I do; I've just been gone for a bit. I'm off to a show. What is your frame made of and how do you guide the ram? 2 inch square tubing, the ram is guided by an angle iron cage built around it, shimmed to proper clearance.

Got a new design coming up. Worked out the rough specifics today. Eaven easier and cheaper to build than the last one i think.
