I think it'd be cool if you remade the grip and reshaped the blade a bit to make a short falchion.

the blade is almost 18 inches long I spent the day filing the edges to remove a few nicks and sharpen up the last 5 or 6 inches on both sides. I also whittled the handle down from its formerly chunky state to a smoother fit to my hand. after honing with a round stone i attacked some gallon size tea bottles and was able to slice into them nicely. the point is now sharp enough to make a thrust with. pics are recreation with original targets.jugs were full of water when struck. on a final note: after looking at images of falchion on a google search, I find there is so much variation that i really dont need to change the blade shape to call this a falchion. tho i may grind down the top edge to give it that falchion look. P.S. anyone care to guess what kind of steel this is made of? a medium bastard file cuts it easily so its not hardened. it was stamped made in china and is 1/16th thick all around the brown bottle got whacked off the stand a few times before i caught it on the neck.not a good target.. the new stand

Looks good so far. I agree that a nice falchion-like clip point would look cool and maybe attack those handle scales with some dark walnut stain. That would be pretty sweet. Machetes FTW!
