Nice link. karma to you. I am surprised at how closely Pendray's process parallels my own; I may have to try it his way as it seems to take a lot less time.

Coincidentally, I read Angel Sword's process for making their damascus steel. I still think their swords are overpriced garbage, but I was interested in true damascus (not pattern welded). Since the article did not mention heat-treating, is it safe to assume damascus blades are not heat-treated? What sword-making techniques were in use in europe that made these swords so superior? Also, does anyone know where to find real, not pattern-welded, damascus swords?
