Hello.
I'm new here, my name is Alexandre and i'm from Brazil. I've always been a blades lover. For me, one sword, spear, axe or something like that is much more than pieces of metal. But anyway...
I have some knives in my wall, but now, i decided to buy my first "big knife", and nothing better to begin like the japanese swords. Katana are very beautiful and has a lot of history behind its forms, it's not just a sword, it's a extension of the soul of its owner, not made to kill, but for help people (I know... In the war is other story  ).
I don't have much money to put in my colection (Wages here is very low ant the things is very expensive), I wanna purchase one functional Katana, then i've looking in the stores (on-line stores, here don't have nothing in this tipe non-ornamental for less of five times my wage) and i see some manufactures interesting.
How you have to say about MUSASHI(my fist option) and BRANDON SWORD (Both with the price between $60 and $80)?

Hello Alexandr. I bought my brother a Musashi Hand Honed Katana, which cost's about $50. It doesn't look too bad and can be used against very light targets like plastic milk jugs and foam pool noodles, but anythings more than that is inviting disaster. Musashi also has the Shirakawa 1060 line which I've never handled but is somewhat better than my brother's and is about $30 more expensive. You can get either of these swords at Kult of Athena or on Amazon. I've never heard of Brandon sword, so I wont comment on it. Hope this helps a little.

Welcome to the forum. ^ ^ Musashi isn't bad for the money, actually. This sword: www.trueswords.com/musashi-1060- ... -4896.html has been the first of many a forumite and backyard cutter. For the price, they look pretty nice and perform fairly well. Brandon sword, however, I have a feeling will be a lot like Ryansword, and we (well I, at least) kinda try to steer clear of them. Not the best quality, lotta hype, that sort of thing. Good luck and happy sword hunting!

Also, all of the prices I've listed are for US dollars and I'm not sure if there would be any special shipping or customs costs to ship from US to Brazil. If you haven't already looked into this you may want to, as I know that both Australia and Canada have pretty brutal fees beyond just the normal shipping costs.

Hello, I have started a thread about Brandon Sword as I am curious about this seller too viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3233Generally I would use only sellers that have been endorsed by someone who's bought from them- there are so many out there and it's hard to know if they are legit or not. I hope we can find out more about this guy for you. So far his site looks pretty standard and kind of showy- typical stuff used to draw in those new to swords.

Thanks for everyone.
About Brandon Sword: I've seen some of then here in my country, it's a cute sword (very sharp), but the guy wants R$ 600 (more or less US$ 350), but i have search and the same katana is one of the US$ 60. I don't have found much information about Brandon Sword out of his web site, because of this i'm here with this question.
Musashi: Apparently, they make real good katana, i'm impressed about a lot of good things about then (mainly price/quality).
I know Kult of Athena, it was one of the first store where i looked. I liked the model Musashi SF3247, it's cool, but the blade does not seem so tough like the Musashi $80 swords. Anyway...
About prices and shipments: That Brandon's was the most convenient over price and functionality for me in stores here, but how i said, it's a US$ 60. If i buy one with this price in Kult of Athena (For example), according to my research, i'll pay only $60 in the sword and more $60 in the shipment (US$ 120 = more or less R$ 200). I May buy one of best quality with the money i spend in a low quality here.
So here I am bothering you!
PS: Thank you very much, chrisperoni, for the other topic. You deserves more Karma for the initiative! XD

Thanks! It seems others say the same about BrandonSwords being overpriced- I think that type of seller preys on new buyers before those buyers have had time to figure out what things should really cost.
