I think that's really the point. They're meant to be super amazing swords at a more affordable price point; at least, that's what the descriptions you can find attached to them by most retailers say and I'm inclined to believe them. Enkidu: Luna posted a full review over on the old forums, so you can go and drool over it; I know I do.

Knight's Templar. Mine is in ox/ox with a dark brown belt suspension. Very very lovely. KT/Mal/Kreig seem to be all mounted onto the same blades. Sold off the Crusader (way too light for me) and the Bristol (lovely piece -I'm sure Cory loves it 2)

The Knight's Templar actually shares its blade with the Practical Longsword if I remember correctly, whereas there are a few differences between the Malatesta and Kriegschwert blades; #1 of which is the length: the Malatesta's blade is 3" shorter than the Kriegschwert's. The Kriegschwert also has a more pronounced tip, at least to my eyes. I've been ogling them all enough to pick these things out, even if they're not all that obvious.

Yea, she's 43 1/2" with a 34" blade. Called the "Venetian Bastard Sword" I find it pretty manageable with one hand, but it really REALLY shines with two. Here's my review: CF/Atrim Venetian Bastard SwordAnd here's Tom's--you can see him use it one-handed in the video a few times. Would be interesting to hear how it compares with the handling of the 1326.... Venetian Bastard Sword

The venitian ! Thanks, i had a brain fart i guess. Thanks for the review links, but rest assure i've already read them from one end to another. I even contacted Tom at the time asking him for the possibility of sending him some of my swords at the next camp ! He could make this an annual event, having the same reviewer review multiple swords gives an interesting perspective i think. ( you had a very good idea guys by the way ! ). I wonder if they plan one way or another to revive the Chimera line, it just wasnt a good time for me to get one last year, and the line had a lot of potential. Maybe Valiant will take over with its prestige line, who knows.

The Knight's Templar has the same blade as the 304S (The 304S is based on AT1415, IIRC) The Malatesta has a 303S blade with an extended tang (The 303S is based on the AT1315, IIRC) The Kreigschwert has no relation to any other sword made by VA, and is based on the AT1313, AFAIK. Hope this helps, but don't take my word for it- I may have confused the 1313 and 1415. -Slayer

Ah, so it's the 303 that the Malatesta has a blade on. I was wondering what it was, but with the extended handle, I wasn't making the comparison. I can certainly see it now, looking at their pictures side by side. Odd how much of a difference a longer hilt can make, eh?

The Warder, I guess. Due to concept, if for no other reason.
I do really like the grip an cross on the Kriegschwert, but otherwise it's not really my kind of sword.

I voted Bristol because... I have one. Also, now that Sonny is offering metal lockets through the CSS, they can be even cooler!
I've also handled a Malatesta and it's also very nice, but I just really like how the Bristol looks.

Yeah I voted Bristol and Malatesta too.
I have the Bristol because I like type XVI and I like the way it looks. I have also handled the Malatesta and really liked it. I wish is was a type XVIII, I just think it would look better as a Type XVIII.

I have to go with Kriegsschwert... Although the newer Knight's Templar is a close second.

I agree. The style of the hilt suggests a later blade design like the pointier type XVIII.
