I'm going to try my hand at a few reviews. I just got in several machetes.
First I will review the Marbles Swamp Master Jungle machete. These are the first Marbles machetes I've ever gotten, I am very impressed with them. This machete is made in El Salvador
I ordered several machete from Smokey Moutain Knife Works, 4 Marbles, 2 Cold Steel and 1 Ontario. SMKW as always given me fast service I ordered on 2 16 11 and got them on 2 21 11.
The Swamp Master Jungle machete is $14.95 included is a nylon sheath and 2X4in medium course sharpening stone. It is a Panga style machete 18in blade, 3/16in (1.1mm) thick, 1 1/2 in wide the the base flaring to 4 1/2 in at the upsweep point. This is the sharpest machete I've ever had out of the box. Not razor sharp but close, myself I do not want a razor sharp machete. The blade has orange paint which I like, 3 fuller on one side of the blade painted black.
The handle is 6in hardwood painted orange on the end. Guess they don't want you to lose this machete if you sit it down
It is held on by 3 rivets and has a large brass landyard hole. the grip feels real good in the handle. By the way I have lost a machete by sitting in tall brush.
The nylon sheath is well made with 3 utility pockets, the bottom has the 2X4in sharpening stone in it. The other 2 are empty you can put whatever you want in them. This is a heavy nylon sheath not the lightweights one you get from other makers. The Sheath along is worth the $14.95 I paid. The only thing I don't like about it the machete sets very low in the sheath covering all but the last couple inches of the handle
Now on to cutting, since this is a weighted machete most of it's weight at the point it cuts heavy targets very well. The first target was a hardwood sapping 1 1/2in dia. I cut it in one swing with little effort.
The second sapping was about 2 1/2in dia. took 2 cuts to get it down. I think I could have did it in one cut if I had of used more force in my swing and my angle hae been better.
The blade even though being a weighted tip is very fast in the hand.
Pro Low price
Very good edge
Excellent sheath
Cons Handle has some slight gaps
Hard to find usaually out of stock or back ordered
Bottom line IF you want a good weighted machete ready to use out of the box buy this one
