just wondering if it is possible to disassemble the CS grosse messer in order to turn the ring on the hilt around so it's more appropriate for a left-handed person like myself. i'm considering the grosse messer as my next sword since i have three straight edged swords and want something that has a good chopping/slicing power to it.
thanks in advance

Ok, I am making one into a custom, and the pommel screws on, you will have to drill out the rivits for the scales, then you can flip the hilt......SanMarc.

The CS messer is quite heavy. It's a good, strong cutter, definitely a beater, but I believe there are better options out there... unfortunately the messer is somewhat underrepresented as it's not a 'pretty' blade. However, in a few months I believe Darksword Armoury may come out with the winning swords from a contest held here about a year ago, one of which will be a messer. Could wait and see about that if you like!

This is late but. . .
You could, but it would require a decent amount of effort.
I bought one over the summer and snapped it at the hilt a few months ago (tang failure, completely my fault). The way the hilt is fitted to the tang/blade has it taper from the back to the front, so you'll have to widen it to a uniform size. It shouldn't rattle at all though, because it lips over the handle for security. If I remember I'll take pictures of it if you're still interested.
