Saw this over at KOA, considered tossing it in with my military dadao order. It's a 4oz bottle of oil (probably mineral) in a spritz bottle. Worth it? It's under 3 bucks, but for all I know it might be a terrible applicator. Or maybe it has the plague.

www.sword-buyers-guide.com/sword ... g-kit.html The "Money Quote": "I used to use Hanwei sword oil - however it really isn't necessary and I've never had a bottle with the nozzle that doesn't break before I get half way through it..." I can't honestly say I've ever tried it, this kept me away. I stick with 3 in One.

The oil works good for me, but the "spritz" doesn't really work well.

Just unscrew the spritz-top off and use a cloth, as you would with any other oil. It works just fine and if you can afford it, cool beans. I don't put too much trust in the spraying anyway, it might ensure a little more consistent distribution of oil over the blade but I don't see it being any different than pouring a little 3-n-1 on the blade and spreading it around with a cloth. There's only so much technology can do for oiling down a sword blade

In my experience the oil iteself works great - it's light, it coats well, it prevents rust (what more can ya want). The bottle on the other hand... not so much. I got about 4-5 pumps in before the nozzle/top just kinda came off and I couldn't get it to work properly after that. So yeah, I just unscrewed the lid and used a cloth.

So is Hanwei Sword Oil something other than just mineral oil? If so, what?

I have discovered I had two cans of 3-in-1 silocone based lubricant/sealant - just using that instead.
