Hey guys, So I have resolved to get rid of all my cheap stainless ornamental swords (all except my Lord of the Rings ones, I just can't bring myself to part with them ). So I wanted to ask, what is a reasonable sale price for wall hangers? Also if anyone wants one, just let me know. I have three swords plus an axe. Thanks, Paul

Well, pictures would always help. And I can understand why you'd post this thread here instead of the classifieds, as you can't post them with a price yet.
I might be interested in a couple of them depending on what type of guard and pommel they have. But I'd say that you'd need to show some pictures. Either that, or look up the blades that you bought, see what their price is, and knock 25-50% off depending on how fast you want to get rid of them.
If I might ask a favor of you and take a magnet to the guards and pommels. If any of them are ferrous, I might be interested, depending on the style.

ferrous meaning the magnet is attracted to it?

Yep Even if it's not ferrous, it could still be made of stainless. But what I'd really like to avoid is the crazy alloy that wall hangers come with half the time. I'm not sure what the heck it is, but I'm not a fan of it.

Yeah, what is that stuff? Some kind of half plastic/ half cheap metal junk. I too would like to know more about the fittings for these SLO's (sword like objects). Another useful purpose I've found for my wallhangers has been for practice; as in practiceing sharpening, etching, engraving etc. Saves possible damage to the real swords and gives the junk blades a reason to live, for a while

Ok,
I'll have some pictures up shortly. As for the telling whether they're ferrous or not, it'll have to wait for tomorrow because I'm going to need to borrow a magnet from a friend.

I've never had a wallhanger or SLO, but if I did, I'd turn them into practice project blades. Right now, I'm cutting down and old Windlass Sabre into some sort of machete. If I can figure out how to counterweight the blade with a pommel of some sort....well, I'm going into a tangent here, but hang on to them, throw them into deep storage, and you might use them someday.

I hope you aren't trying the electrolytic etching on a stainless wall hanger. I read somewhere that it releases some sort of harmful fumes.
But yeah, as far as honing up your sharpening skills... har har... wall hangers are great. Just be sure that you quickly dull them before anything bad happens. I had a sword of questionable construction that I had used to work on my "get something razor sharp" skill. After I succeeded, I went to put it back in the corner and then a mental image of the helicopter of death flashed into my head. I quickly took it back to the belt sander and rounded off the edge
I'd also like to try the gem setting method that Brendan uses. Not that I'd have any use for such fancy things on any of MY swords, but it would be neat to make some jewelry to flutter some damsel's heart someday.

Well actually I'm trying to sell them so I can get money to buy my next sword. As I am still i school and don't have a steady job, anything that can get me money helps.

I sure did try electro-etching my stainless, fumes-shmooms  I'm going to try out the gem setting one day- I have the gems already, just need the furniture

For now, I only have 1 Wall Hanger - The Scorpion Sword. But I have one sword that's not a wall hanger, hanging in the wall too!

Chris , no engraving in the house after the baby is born. So, might as well suck up them fumes while you can. If you start seeing colors and ferrett vampires( I mentioned those didnt I, I dont think I would have left out the ferrett Vampires) be sure and stop, write down exactly what you were doing...and shoot me a quick email.
