No problem - and well-met. I do wear a belt though (just no suspenders). FWIW, I'd be willing to try my hand at removing the decor if you'd like... It would take a little time and patience, but I bet I could manage it. One way or the other, I am sure Brian will be able to create a final product you will be proud to wield. Take care.

(For some reason the photo links I posted below from Flickr are not showing up) Hi All! Great Forum here. I just got my 2nd Sword (a whole week after my first...), a Windlass Oakeshott XIV. What a lovely piece! Handles wonderfully, incredibly balanced and lightweight....and just feels right. The heavy Dark Sword Armoury Squire I got first (which is very attractive) feels like a club compared to it--although I don't doubt it to be much more durable.... Anyway, both have their place, I'm sure. I got the Windlass from Kult of Athena (and it came in like 3 days) arriving well packed, unsharpened and flawless. Following Paul Southren's instructions www.sword-buyers-guide.com/sharpening-swords.html I sharpened the thing to a razor sharp blade. My first time using Accusharp, and it indeed works as advertised. (I also touched up the DSA squire with it....and noticed much harder steel there...) Here are some photos of the Windlass (along with an elk hide grip wrap I added...makes it look (and feel) more like a true battle sword...) I tried to show the forging ripples here. Not noticeable accept at this angle--proving that it is indeed a hand-forged weapon. Fits my own hand perfectly, though I could use perhaps 10mm longer of a grip. I wonder if they did the dimension from a medieval sword (when the knights were most all little guys?) I decided to wrap the grip in soft elk hide, as it makes it very sure to hold onto, and gives the sword that battlefield look.... (notice the Windlass holographic sticker showing up in the flash...) Definitely has the homemade wrap look eh? (No, the grip is not crooked, that just the leather wrap that's uneven)
