A bit late, but my intro post.

Hello all! I'm Adam, and I've joined this forum since it seems like a great place to ask questions and glean all kinds of useful knowledge. Hopefully someday I can return the favor. I would love to make a few knives when things warm up, but as a broke college student that makes things difficult. I have a slab of steel (one of those big elevator weights) to use as an improvised anvil, some hammers, a few worn out files, some hand tools, and basic knowledge of heat treating... I think I could make something vaguely resembling a serviceable knife if I had the chance. Problem is throwing together a forge. :roll:

I have a big interest in ancient, medieval, and antique weapons & armor. Added to the fact that I'm a bit of a gaming nerd, and the interest is infectious. Sometimes I sketch out my own designs, the next best thing to actually making them, which is something I am dying to try someday.

Already I am enjoying the forum quite a bit, having spent some time on a certain other forum which will not be named, where I found much of the community to be short with newcomers, and to be quite honest, rather full of themselves. This is not the case here at all from what I've seen, and I think I am going to enjoy myself immensely!
