Hi all Well Iv received my Cold steel Jade Lion Gim and Dagger as well as my Hanwei Beile Dao ,So now Im looking at getting one of either the Hanwei Han sword or the Wootz as I like the styling of these 2 particular swords .Unfortunately I can only choose one of them at the moment , so which would you choose and why ? I like both , with no clear cut winner currently , there is also not much on reviews , more detailed info or anything of the like on these 2 particular swords , so any help ,opinions would be appreciated . Thanks

In my opinion I would say neither. If you want a really good Han style sword, I would recommend looking at Jin-Shi. It will take a while since all his swords are made to order, and being hand forged and sharpened does take some time. He looks at all of his swords before he sends them to make sure they are top quality. www.jin-shi.com

well, the wootz jian seems to be pretty small according to the specs...I would expect a LOT MORE for something that costs $1,200 on KOA! The Han jian looks really cool and I like the gold fittings! However, there was a review somewhere (I forget) that shows the tang of the damascus Tai-Chi sword and it was pretty small and pathetic! I think the Han jian and almost all the other Dynasty Series swords are designed soley for display, but I could be wrong! If you're looking for something for practical cutting however, I guess you can't go wrong with JinShi!

Hi all , thanks for the suggestions thus far . On the JinShi suggestion , I had thought of it but honestly the shipping is a killer as I need to use an international courier service . So it makes sense to order from one vendor as I end up saving a whole bundle getting things shipped together . Iv got a Prey Mantis Katana comming and hence want to order from the same vendor , which leaves me with the Han or Wootz option in essence as Im wanting to add to my small chinese collection . Iv sent Hanwei an e mail to ask about the Tang on the Han as well as how sharp the blade is etc so hopefully they will reply today as I need to finalise my order later today . I want to be able to at least do some light cutting with the pieces so I need to know that they will hold up to this at least . According to the HAN Description it says "fully functional" , just what their definition of fully functional means , well that I suppose is the question . I considered a Qi Jian , but believe it to have a blunt blade ,which is a pity as its a really nice looking piece .

I have seriously considered the Wootz in the past, but the dimension do turn me off a bit. grab a yardstick and compare the dimensions on KoA to it it's rather eye-opening. almost gladius sized. If you do go with that sword though, PLEASE post pictures and your thoughts and impressions.
