Just got my Tenchi, and the kashira was tied so badly it easily comes off the end of the tsuka. I tried to tighten the ito but the knot part seems to be heavily glued. Not quite sure what to do...really don't want to have to replace the ito.
thanks!

If you just purchased it; you should be able to return and exchange for the same items without the aforementioned defects.

Where did you get it from?
If you can't return it use a small tube of super glue and put some under the kashira. with the way cheness glues everything down if you take the ito off it's really hard to get the ito clean enough to use again.

got it from kult of athena (and not from here only bc KOA is closer)

First I would say contact KoA about a n exchange. if that doesnt work and you have to fix it yourself I would: put some super glue under the kashira and make sure some gets on the ito aswell. then use the flat end of a japanese take out chopstick (or a butter knife could work too) to push down the ito to tighten it. keep in mind this is not the ideal fix. the best thing to do would be to have the ito rewrapped. but if you cant do it your self this can be costly.

i wouldn't mind just retying the end of the ito..but I can't get the glued part loose. it's like they glued the entire knot and not just the ito end. agh. so irritating.
anyone have experience with KOA? it's not worth it for me to have to pay shipping both ways on this. =/

KoA WILL exchange or refund purchase price, as long as you haven't tried to "fix" it yourself. Their return policy states explicitly a return can be for ANY reason. Just don't like it out of box? Contact Ryan and you're good to go. You will pay return shipping only, unless otherwise authorized by Ryan. And if you explain your situation, he may just pop for shipping both ways, depending on policy details.
But if you've altered it, "repaired" it, disassembled it, tried to sharpen it or otherwise messed with it, then you own it. In that eventuality, you will definitely need to have it re-wrapped. Fortunately there are a few folks around here who can do that for a reasonable price.
In my opinion, KoA is one of the best retailers of production swords today. Talk to them and I'm sure they will do their best to satisfy you.

*update* Probably going to try and send it back and get a hanwei instead. I knew the fittings were not going to be great, but expected them to at least stay on
Hmm maybe I emailed the wrong address..haven't heard back still.
Luckily with the way it is it's basically impossible for me to try and fix it unless i cut the ito..that sucker is glued on tight.

Not sure.. what do you guys think between the pract plus elite and raptor Shinogi Zukuri? I was looking at the raptor for the spring steel. since this is going to be the beater blade, wanted something that's durable and not have to worry bout setting on a bad cut.

If I were going to buy a Raptor (and I am some day) I'd buy the Shobu Zukuri. Just because the shinogi is so common.

Hi there, It can take a couple of days ,just depends on how busy they are . Mondays are usually pretty busy there as they are catching up on sales that took place online over the weekend . Also they are not open every Saturday and they are closed on Thursdays . Give it a couple of days , they have a good reputation and great service (in all my past dealings with them) .
