Hi all
Well it seems Iv caught the Chinese sword bug ,Iv just received the Cold Steel Gim and Iv got the Cold Steel Jade Lion Gim and Dagger on route .Now iv spotted something which has caught my eye ,the Hanwei Beile Dao . Has anyone handled one of these or seen one in person ?I like the look of it .

You know, I have been eyeing the Beile Dao for years. A little too expensive to be an impulse buy though. It seems odd that you haven't gotten any responses in the time this post has been up. It must not be very popular. Can't see why, the thing is gorgeous. I would LOVE to do some cutting with that little firecracker...

It's probably popular enough but you can get dao for better prices elsewhere, just not necessarily this pretty. It's like buying a Porsche versus a BMW... how many Beemers do you see on the road as opposed to Porsches? A lot more.
No reviews here or posts are probably because people don't want to comment on something they don't own/have no experience handling. I know that's the reason I avoided commenting until now. It's definitely outside the usual purview of SBG, given it's like, what, $700 on KoA even?
SwordFan, if you really want it and can afford it, go for it. Otherwise I'd recommend looking up Jin Shi and asking them how much they'd charge for something similarly fancy. I wouldn't be surprised if they would charge about the same as KoA though, if not the same as Hanwei... quality comes with a price, and that goes as much for the fancy doodads as it does the fancy blades.

That last comment seemed to meander a bit. There are plenty of people here who have experience with $700+ swords, it seems odd to me that no one has experience with this particular sword. It seems like every once in a while Hanwei releases a sword that gets left behind... I can't find any reviews on the Fuku Riu either.

Well I went ahead and ordered one and boy is it a beauty . Im away currently but when back home ill post some pics . It came razor sharp as well .The Green Rayskin looks great on the scabbard and the fittings and finish on mine are really good .Overall Im very happy . Bigred as for the Fuku Riu , I have one and honestly for the $725 I spent on it well lets just say I think I got more of my money's worth from my $600 Paul Chen Bushido or my $380 Bamboo Mat Katana . The fittings are very nice and unique on the Fuku Riu ,but mine had a horrible huge saya which looked way to wide and big for the katana,the paint job was also done really weird with the dark green only being on one side really . The blade is the same shape as one of the Raptors ,but it has a large hump on it ,well larger than my Raptor anyway .Overall if I had it to do all over again I would most probably look at something else ,but then again I might just have gotten a bit of a lemon ,who knows .

Awesome :-) I hope you do a review of the Beile Dao! To the best of my knowledge, it would be the first one out there. And as for that Fuku Riu lemon you have there, if you ever decide to let it go drop me a line ;-)

Iv got a Hanwei Song Sword on its way to me as well , what Ill most probably do is do a combined review of the Beile Dao and the Song sword .

Just received my Hanwei Song sword and wow ,what a sword !! I thought the Beile Dao was nice ,but this sword just blows it out of the water . Im normally a Katana guy but this sword is by far the best sword iv received from Hanwei !!
