Interesting find, Tre. Too bad they were utterly biased towards the katana, calling it the "ultimate sword" while completely discounting the jian's cutting capability.

That's the first time I've seen the katana not being brought up for its speed and precision before.

That naked guy does not know JSA. He form looks worse than mine, and I suck majorly. IMHO, that show is not to be taken seriously.

i know that and she is too wushu. but i enjoy that a katana finally didnt win in one of there vids. Scott Rodell was just hittin on the jian movements for the same reason on FB when i posted it there. i didnt post it for finesse of form for either... just the jian winning no matter how fake the vid. i just wanted the CSA fans to see that some of the vids arent always katana winning.

Using a Japanese sword does not guarantee winning, and the lack of it does not guarantee losing. But I would like to see two SKILLED people using the swords, not some fakes.
Anyone who truly knows martial arts will never say that preferring one weapon over another will absolutely guarantee your victory.

True enough, but If I say, have a SMG and you have any kind of sword, I'm going to prefer my odds (you didn't specify what kinds of weapons)

The weapon doesn't matter as much as who's wielding it, as long as they're the same *type* of weapon ( to you, Chris). That's what it comes down to in any argument like "knight vs. samurai" or "longsword vs. katana" or "jian vs katana"... almost all good weapons will do their job just fine, it's the human factor that you have to figure out. That's why I see threads like this being rather kind of pointless.

Hey bro... i actually started this thread as a laugh on that whole debate.... I really agree that there is no best sword, or style. only be the best you can be with the proper sword for the style you train. i also believe that the show sux... but since they usually make the katana so glamorous, i could not resist the post.

Sure there is: Where armour and carry a shield. The guy without the shield just has to be that much better than you to get through your defense effectively when you're protected by more than just speed and agility.
