Hey guys Im looking to get a 1911a1 for just shooting around and using for my impression. Ive came by a IAC Regent 1911 for $405 including shipping. I dont need anything like super expensive cause if it comes off of my belt Im not flipping out as bad. Have any of you guys ever handled one of these? I mean I dont see anything wrong besides the barrel being stainless steel when it should be parkerized just like the slide and frame ( which they are not...they are blued. Ill send it out to someone who can parkerize it as they did in ww2).

Have you checked out the Springfield 1911? I got one a few years ago for about $400. It already comes parkarized. All I had to do was change out the grips. Still haven't gotten it blank adapted. I picked up a S&W 1917 .45 revolver last year at a pawn shop. I've been shooting my blanks through it. Less headache.

I have and all used ones are over priced. They want what they paid for it while its really used. I could understand if they parely used it but when you can see the wear and tear of use of it...for $500 its not really worth it.

You could look into the Rock Island 1911's. They're ridiculously inexpensive and have been getting generally favorable reviews (notably for a crisp trigger from factory). One can't expect them to perform like a custom, but for the price they appear to be a great gun.

I second Rock Island 1911's, mine performs flawlessly. Made in the Philippines and made well.

I think I may actually go with AO ww2 1911a1. for just $90 more I can get it 99% accurate. Just have to replace the trigger if Im right.

In the world of handguns, the 1911 is going to run more than pretty much anything else. If you want a decent one, be prepared to spend $800 or so. If you find yourself spending less, do some serious research into that particular make and model because the price instantly makes it suspect. Your immediate response to a 1911 for $400 should be: What's wrong with it?

I would go with the Rock Island, you can find them for <$400 and have been pretty well received. Dont be afraid of the used market if you know what to look for. Scored a very nice Springfield with in polished blue for 5 bills last month. Aint to big a fan of most after market parkerizing , they tend to be too heavy handed. I can see if you have a really pitted piece that you want to even out. RIA finish is pretty nice form the factory.

Not a big fan of 45's - less then positive experience when in the Navy - but after reading the review you may have moved me to really look into the Rock Island 45. Looks like veryone who has one really likes them.
