I was quite lucky today as I was walking around a car boot sale and came across a Hanwei Adam Hsu Jian and a special edition Kit Rae sword, and only £10 ($15) for both . Anyway I was wondering if anybody knows how to take apart the Hanwei Jian to check the tang, i've never owned a Chinese sword and so have no idea where to start. Any help would be brilliant.

The nut on the end of the handle comes off. It is the one located inside of the loop like thingy on the pommel. If you have access to a set of automotive line wrenches, use them as it will save you from marring the nut if your wrench slips.
Apply a little bit of heat to it to get the thread locking compound to soften and it should screw off fairly easily. You don't need to super heat it, just get it hot to the touch.
The grip may or may not be epoxied on the tang, if it is, it will be a complete pain to remove. If it isn't the grip will pull right off of the tang.

if it is made like the hanwei practical tai chi sword... the handle is epoxied.
