Hi All,
I'm a 30 year old guy from Wellington, New Zealand. I'm into martial arts, Japanese style swords and cacti! I have trained mostly in Karate. I have trained in bujinkan ninjitsu a bit which is where I have mostly trained with swords. I am currently looking for a japanese sword school in Wellington, NZ to train at in addition to my Kyokushin Karate training, as the bujinkan does not focus on sword work enough for what I want out of my training at the moment.
I currently own 5 Modern made Katana, and am hoping to aquire a real Japanese Katana or Wakizashi soon.
I own a Hanwei Raptor Moroha Zukuri, I have a 46.9 inch "Naginata Katana" from an Ebay seller selling stuff from Longquan, China. It has quite a large blade but it's only standard length with the handle providing most of the extra reach (it's about 20cm longer than my other katanas). I also have a "Damascus" Elite Dragon katana from Superior Swords in Auckland New Zealand. I have a Jungle Cat Katana from Superior Swords which is a 1045 mono steel, and a 5 Dragons katana eith 1045 or 1060 I forget which also from Superior Swords in NZ.
I have no personel, financial or any other interest other than as a customer in Superior Swords! I just happen to have 3 swords from them. There does not seem to be many reviews on superior swords, thee only one i found was a tad negative. So I might try and do a review of my swords.
I look forward to partaking and learning in this forum!

Welcome to the forum mate. Nice to see another Wellingtonian here too I'd love to help you find a sword school except the only one I know of (and go to) is the School of European Martial Arts in Lower Hutt.

Hi I just returned to Melbourne Australia after 9 years living with my family in Fukuoka, Japan. I studied a traditional japanese sword style whilst there, and obtained the ranking of Godan (5th Dan). I also have been presented by my Japanese teachers with the Kaiden Menkyo (a traditional sword teaching license) and the title of Shihan. I am the only foreigner to be granted official permission to teach this style outside of Japan. This sword style has a direct link going back over 600 years to the origins of this art in Kage-Ryu. Yagyu Shinkage-Ryu ws chosen by the last 3 Shoguns (warlords) of japan as the number 1 sword style. My faction was sent to Fukuoka to be the bodyguard and advisors to Lord Kuroda. My style is called: Kuroda Han, Yagyu Shinkage-Ryu, Heiho, Aratsu-Kai. I am working towards a long-distance course for students who cannot, for whatever reason, attend my classes. Perhaps you might be interested in this. Please feel free to view my website, read all the info there and then email me. www.shadowsword.co/All the very best, and enjoy the journey Araki-Metcalfe Paul Shihan Melbourne, Australia
