The thing I would like to see, instead of a mockery of someone else, is a more serious approach and pre-review of the Gen 2 Knightly Riding Sword. You were given a privilege that many of us would like to have, and you use it to poke fun at someone else.
So please, make this thread about the sword, many of us would like to know more of it.

My review is complete, with pictures, and a few more video clips. I've sent it to Clyde already with my suggestions.
The reason i'm not posting it here, is that the sword is on it's way to shootermike, and when he has it he will do his review. I don't want any of my comments influencing shooter's opinion any more than it has to.
The reason that I posted the clip here, was to give you a glimpse of how well it cuts freestanding tatami. And I executed that with some humor.
Johnny Euro had it coming anyway.

I'd like to hear and see more about the sword myself. Even one good picture in profile would speak volumes to me. I'm sure the parody was done in all good humor but is, in of itself, kind of lacking in information. What type of mat was it? One thought I have had about Generation 2 may be critical but I had hoped the efforts had moved beyond it. Rather than elaborate here, I'll wait for the review. Cheers Hotspur; the A&A knightly riding sword is on sale this month

Not to sound like a smart ass but whatever you posted doesn't display on this browser. Is it passe to just post a jpg img?
Even just a link/url to whatever that is might work for me, I dunno. Nothing shows in a quote box either (for me).
I'd also still be interested in what type of mat you cut as well.
Cheers
Hotspur; running Opera as a browser, my flash may be out of date though

There's the direct YouTube link.
A fine-looking little sword, if I may say.

Well, I dunno. I finally got the first one to load and run earlier but you know what? I'm on dial-up anyway and it's a bit of a waste of time for me. I guess it would just not be worth the effort to post a plain old picture.
Cheers

Ah, dialup. No fun, that.
Guess it's up to Adam now to share a photo.

Well, I did go ahead and update my flash and watched the ummm picture. On one hand, not quite what I expected but then I put things in G2 perspective. Does this share a blade with something else from the G2 lineup? I'll still eagerly await more information. Looks like a handy little sword and there's no accounting for other's visual appetite. The downturned guards do clear clothing well and keep themselves out of the way in general. I'm not a big fan of that particular look. Nice soundtrack ;D Cheers Hotspur; I thought I was hearing the black helicopters coming for me again

Also, this man you are making a parody of, by doing such it kind of says to me you are the kind of person who makes snap judgements without actually knowing someone and decided to take the piss on a pre-conceived notion. My apologies if you aren't i just think you are perpetuating a cycle. I want to see the sword and i hate you for the fact that you got to do a preview on a sword, i would love to do something like that.

Thanks for the hate bloodwraith... that just makes me feel grand.
And no, It's not a snap judgement. I was initially brought aware of mr. John Clements by an arma member. At first, he seemed like a very talented and interesting person. I even went so far as to almost host a seminar here in fresno with him teaching - but funds became a problem(he's expensive). Since then I've read a number of articles by Mr. J Clements(all of them on the ARMA site), as well as seen him spar and do 'flouryshes' - all via videos he puts up on el internet(also on the Arma site). To be honest I'd like him a lot more if he only had a good attitude. He really has no respect for anyone or anything and displays that attitude in a very rude and disgraceful way. So I have no respect for him.
Hotspur - As for the mats I was cutting, they're just standard tatami I get down at the old sword selling store in town. They carry mostly wallhanger swords but have a few nicer ones including some of the cheap but worth it masahiro, some of the more expensive(~$300) masahiros, as well as some hand folded stuff in the $1000 range that I don't look at too close cuz I can't afford it. The mats they sell aren't the highest quality, but they feel the same (whilest cutting them) as the high quality stuff I got from my sensei(who got them straight from Japan on the last trip he took there). The only difference I can tell with them is that they scratch the blade a bit more than the really nice stuff. But at $7/mat I can't complain, especially since I don't have to pay shipping, and I don't have to buy in bulk.

If you want to take that as hatred then please be my guest but it wasn't intended that way. It is easy to bad mouth people who can't defend themselves. I don't know you from a bar of soap and i don't know him from a bar of soap, so this is not a personal thing. The internet is a place where impressions are the only thing we have to go on. I have no hatred for you, the i hate you thing was meant as joking, i am very envious of you, that is what i should have said.

Hate is a very strong word.
Who's sig. was it that said "Don't be possible to understand, be impossible to misunderstand"?

I have always believed that a European sword does not need to be very sharp to do that job. So I like seen how effective an unsharpened edge can be. My opinion is that swords are for fighting not cutting through things. Putting a dent in someones skull or any other bone is good enough for winning, you don't need to cut the limb off. At the same time a blade that is not overly sharpened will resist chipping when it meets another edge or the rim of a shield.
I am most amazed that Adam was able to achieve his dull-edge cuts with what seems to be a short sword. The tip of a longer sword travels a lot faster. A side note: Clements bashing is very, very common among Tobler students and vice versa. I am wondering if Adam is member of any Tobler chapters. I am a member of NYHFA which is a Tobler chapter, but I don't get involved in the sh1t-slinging bullsemprini.

tsafa, I agree a sword doesn't have to be real sharp to do it's job. However since I don't do a lot of combat fighting I prefer my blades a bit sharper as I like to cut up water filled objects. Still I like the look of that sword as it's a one hander. I'm kinda looking for a good onehanded cutter. Any suggestions on a good durable one? Also +1 to you, tsafa, for rising above the bullsemprini slinging.

I like to look at things from both points of view, and that being said a sword should be sharpened according to how it will be used.

The downturned guards do clear clothing well and keep themselves out of the way in general. I'm not a big fan of that particular look. Nice soundtrack ;D Cheers Hotspur; I thought I was hearing the black helicopters coming for me again Let me see if I can help here. I asked Adam and ShooterMike to both do a Review on this sword so we can get 2 reviews on the same sword. This is so I can see if they both say the same thing and to get a more consistent review, so I can what needs to be changed (to a limit. By that I mean not to take away from the Historical look per say). So Adam has done his review and I have what he sees needs to change. Now ShooterMike should be receiving the sword soon to do his review. Once that is done I will get his feedback, then both Adam and Mike will share notes and both post their reviews. Each will be a separate post. But near the same time. This was their decision to do it this way and I am honoring that decision. Both are known well and have done excellent reviews. But that is not to say others have not done wee, because they have. And I already have someone else inline who has agreed to do a review on a new item we hope, first of next year. And just so you know, I will also look at other people here to do other reviews as well. Just please be patient. We still have 2 items left once we are OK'd by the Hank Reinhardt Estate. We will also have more items coming down the road, not anytime soon. We still, have to get AoV's items first. I do hope HotSpur that this has helped answer some of your concerns, and other people's concerns as well.
