Full Review Forthcoming, I just wanted to let you in on something that particularly impresses me about this sword:
It doesn't feel sharp at all. In fact I can repeatedly draw the blade across my arm without it cutting into my skin at all. At the same time, it's an amazing cutter.
This leads me to 2 conclusions, one which follows logically from the other:
1) The geometry of the edge is very good.
2) The edge is robust. Because it need not be very razor thin in order to cut well, it has more steel in the edges than a 'razor sharp' sword typically has, and therefore more edge durability.
As proof of these my statements, I present to you this video, wherein after demonstrating how the edge isn't even sharp enough to cut skin, I make a nice cut into free standing tatami. You may or may not get the comedy behind this video. Let's just say there's a guy with bad form and a worse attitude out there and this goes out to him:

Very funny!
I just have one question about the sword. How does it handle? Know the weight?

Handles well. Won't say any more nor will I elaborate until such a time as the full review is posted.
I don't have a scale sensitive enough for a good weight measurement. That task will fall to Shootermike.

The fist pump and cry of "Yes!" at the end were great additions (nothing beats a good parody)! ;D

I had nowhere else to shoot it... I recently moved into an apartment, and low and behold we have an itty bitty backyard that's more of merely a fenced off porch.
Next time we're hoping to do it at a local park.

This review and ShooterMike's review I look forward to reading both and seeing more videos and pictures.
But I do caution people. This one sword being reviewed is a proto-type and we will take their info and input and change where it is best to change, then we will start manufacturing and taking orders.

So Clements has bad form? Want to elaborate on that before you tell us that one of the most premier experts in WMA is a phoney? Am I reading something wrong here? Hm....no way I could review this sweet baby, huh ?

I won't comment on his form, since I don't practice proper form myself, but just sort of use whatever stance and swing feels most comfortable for me. What gets me about the vid is that he comes across (whether intentional or not) in a sort of derisive manner regarding Japanese swords (sort of the reverse of the kind of arrogance we western sword buffs frown upon when katana people put us down, no?). Also the fist pump and "Yes!" at the end almost make it seem like he's relieved he was actually able to make the cut and "prove" his point. True, one could also say that he's just pointing out that any decent sword with a proper cut can chop bamboo, so don't be fooled into believing the katana is somehow inherently superior just because you see so many people using them to cut bamboo. That was likely his true intent, his manner of going about it just knid of bugs me. Just my $0.02.

I don't like how he drops the point back so far on his swing, or that he leaves his sword behind and throws his body forward before moving the sword forward. Also, he ends up so hunched over with his face so forward it's just silly. He over-exerts himself and swings way way way too far.
Also, it wasn't that great a cut as it split the bamboo.
Even still, I could easily look past all that and recognize that cutting a big stalk of bamboo with a sword that's obviously not razor sharp is fairly impressive. But then he gets all arrogant and derisive, and that invalidates pretty much everything he was trying to prove.
You see the same thing today in modern sport fencing - no respect or discipline at all. Person A gets a touch on person B. Even quicker than his foil flew at his opponent, his helmet flies off and he turns his back on his sparring partner so that he can gloat and generally be a douche. Disgraceful if you ask me, and that's why I won't do sport fencing.
Finally, John Clements is only at the forefront of WMA because of advertising. He's got a bunch of old 'scholars' backing him up, and he kinda took over and ruined the organization started by Hank Reinhardt. His one sortof credential is winning some obscure kung fu tournament or something.
Frankly, and I hope this doesn't come at much of a shock to you, but most of the other names in WMA care about John Clements about as much as he cares for them (read: Not much at all). They've just got more self respect than to act as rudely as he does.

Glad I'm not the only one pissed off when I see that happen.... Anyways, my comment wasn't meant as an attack, more of a question (which you answered for me very well )
