I've been bouncing around these forums for a while. Figured I'd say hello I've been getting into sword and weapons collecting for the past few years. My first blade is a darksword armory leaf bladed saxon. My next ended up being a valiant armory norseman. The norseman ended being realy heavy, and all at the hilt. The guard and pommel are about a pound each, blades nice though. I've built a couple flails from items gleaned from walmart and lowes . Slowly putting together a suit of armor for SCA heavy combat, just a few more bits left now Having a bit of trouble deciding on my next one though. While I would like another single hand sword (lost the retaining nut on the saxon, and everything I've tried doesn't fit, and I've stripped the threads trying to use just the pommel) I'm leaning towards something with a bit more reach. I like the hanwei pudao but I can find so little info on it. The other Idea I have is mounting a cold steel tomahawk to a much longer haft, but that raises a lot of questions concerning haft thickness and what the tomahawk can fit. Why the tomahawk.. I'll tell you. I really like the spike hawk, and I cannot find its twin. Most battle axe or dane axe head just look heavy and slow and do not have a back spike Thus my conundrum Then again i still don't have a shield.. Ogre

Ogre,
Good to have you on the forum. I moved your thread to the "welcome wagon" board we have in the cafe, that way more folks get to greet you. As for axes, well I happen to know one or two things about them. If you'd like to get some real good opinions on cold steel and axes in general, I'd suggest posting in the "other weapons" board. A lot of folks there who can answer questions, including myself. Another good member is a fellas by the name of Sanmarc, he knows his stuff when it comes to axes!
Again, welcome, and I look forward to future talks!
