Hello all, first time posting in chinese section. I'm looking for quality butterfly swords for wing chun. I've checked hanwei and cold steel, and several google results I'm not sure of their quality.
As I recall there was a company managed by a guy named Garrett (or similar) that produces fine chinese blades. All in all if you can direct me to his company or maybe even recommend a manufacturer or butterfly swords you know personally, I'd like to hear.

www.jin-shi.comI know he tried to create butterfly swords in the past, but they didn't turn out the way he wanted. This may have been before he switched forges though, so I would say give him a shout.

I have Cold Steel Butterfly Swords. I am pleased with the quality and dimensions. They are long enough to completely protect my forearm in the reversed position and handle well.
My complaint is the scabbard. The swords are heavy and the scabbard has a brass ring secured to the scabbard by a leather tab. No doubt it is a securing system for carry, but I don’t understand the correct carry method using the ring/tab. I hung the unit on a peg using the ring. After 2-3 years the weight of the package caused the tab to separate from the scabbard. Fortunately nothing was damaged in the fall. The scabbard is now w/o tab, which I find of little importance. I think CS now has a securing tab for the swords which slide out easily when the scabbard is tilted much below the horizon. Whether they strengthened the tab holding the ring I don’t know. The scabbard replacement cost was $80 + shipping in 2010. I passed on it.
