- AdminEYE CANDY Historical Fictional Accuracy: 5/5 - Assuming you accept that it's not Tam's sword. 3/5 if you don't. Fit and Finish: 4/5 - Not perfect, but pretty good! Scabbard is a little cheap and the "Windlass India" is an eyesore. Handling: 4/5 - I'm not qualified enough to say exactly why, but it definitely feels more sluggish than similar-weight Japanese swords. Structural Integrity: */5 - I'm not going to destruction test a gift, and I don't know enough to tell by looking or just looking at the outside. At a guess - I would say the integrity is pretty low, but it's just a wallhanger for me. Value for Money: 4/5 - Only dinged because it's an US$250+ not-sharpened-by-manufacturer blade. You can get some really nice practical blades for that much. OVERALL: 4/5

You have no idea how much i wish i could have one of John Lundemo's swords, they are the sexiest creations i have ever seen, well jake powning is equal in beauty to him and i would love one of his blades as well.

Alex - it sounds real good, but none of the pictures are showing up - is it just me? Bleh, I've been having some problems with my server lately. They were working last night! I put them up in a different place, which will probably be faster than my server anyway ;p Should be working now.

Looks great! karma - and is the blade about the same thickness as a katana?

Anybody notice the gold Musashi-style tsuba peeking out from under the guard? I did, WTF? (and alex noted in the review) Was Bobby J. a Musashi fan? Wierd collaboration. I haven't read the books, but its glaringly a Musashi tsuba.

Looks great! karma - and is the blade about the same thickness as a katana? I did some quick measurements last night -- It's a little thinner, but only slightly so. The thickness of the spine at the guard is ~4mm, my katana range from 5-7mm. And some other quick dimensions: Sori: 1" Height of blade: 1.1" Of course, these were taken with a simple ruler at about 2 in the morning, so I would imagine they're a bit off ; ) As for the musashi tsuba, yeah it's interesting. The books don't mention anything of the sort (that I remember). The heron-mark swords are typically blends of katana and European swords, though. My guess is that when the designer made it, that was just an extra way of adding in some Japanese style without being too overt about it. Same with the chrysanthemum.

Nice sword! I've always wanted to read the WoT series, but just haven't got around to it.
Karma +1

I remember talking to a Windlass representative when this sword first came out. I had read the books and originally thought it was supposed to be "the" Heron Marked blade that Rand carries and eventually is destroyed in about book 3 I think.
Anyway, it was drawn by Robert Jordan himself as a typical style Heron Mark sword and not meant to be Rand's. In a way it is very unique in the fact that a writer drew his vision of what he pictured a sword from the book looked like (just not the main sword).
I have never cut with one, but found it to feel slightly tip heavy at first as it is expected to act like a Katana (because of the appearance), but actually handle more like a two handed scimitar if there is such a thing.
