Hi all
This is my new aquisition from Marc
The Hanwei Lion Dog.
First what i see after remove the obligate cardbox: A wood box! Nice touch from Hanwei!
Sword Bag in Black "Silk"? instead of the Red one.
I take off the Sword from the box and thought by myself: Hell, what a Big Beast!
I was very impressed, and more after unsheathing the Sword.
For this Price from Marc (Special 434$) it's a steal.
Specifications:
Overall: 43 1/2"
Blade Length: 29"
Handle Length: 13"
Weight: 2lb 14oz
Blade Steel: HWS-1S
Sori: from Tsuba to Kissaki 1,5 cm
Mune-machi: Habaki 7,5 mm, Yokote 4,5 mm
Niku: None
Yokote: Geometrical (slightly, like other Hanweis)
O-Kissaki (i love it)
O-choji hamon, looks frosted like other Hanwei Katanas.I use Mothers without any effect similar to my 25 anni Shinto
Otherwise, it have worked very well on my other Hanwei Katanas
Nice two toned Silk Sageo
Stunning Saya: gloss-lacquered ribbed section at the koiguchi/kurikata and the rest is pebbled. Kojiri is made from nicely shaped horn.No horn Koiguchi I've seen..grrr!
Tsuba,Fuchi and Kashira are non magnetic. Maybe brass or a kind of alloy. Not Iron like mostly described (Non Magnetic Steel?)
Very tight Cotton Tsuka-Ito. Looks more like Silk to me.
Surprise: Mekugis are conical shaped! And Hanwei uses now Hishigami (Bambo Mat and Lion Dog)!!!! Well done Hanwei!!!!!!!
Tsuka are nice shaped but absolutly nothing for small hands.
Balanced? YES.For multiple Tatami-Omote and other heavy targets.
But the most overall balanced Katana in my collection, for me,is my Tsunami (Great Wave) I LOVE IT!
Now finish with yakyak......PIIIIICCCCCCCSSSSSSSSSSSS!!
Yep! Of course...my Cat
Hmmmh....What's that?
I know that?
Hmmmh....?
Yep, is another Katana from Wiwingti.....
Loool..
Overall a very beautiful Sword, for me..maybe also for other people ;-)
Pros: Look to the pics
Cons: Little rattle in the Koiguchi, the Sword comes to easy out from the Saya. Not serious...shimming.
Conclusion: Beautyful "Big Beast" Buy it if you have $ and big hands ;-)
Thanks and greetings
