Cool! That's what I couldn't figure out from viewing your review pic. I could see the recess in the bottom of the pommel where it fits over the secondary nut, but nothing beyond that. Sounds very secure. Many thanks, Paul!

Does the pommel tighten against the tang nut?
Sooo...if the hilt gets loose and you have to tighten the tang nut a quarter turn or so, then the pommel would be misaligned with the rest of the sword?
Or does the pommel snug up against the grip, in which case you can tighten the tang nut all you want without changing how the pommel aligns?

Good question. That's the reason I don't like directional screw on pommels, the whole alignment issue. I'm thinking it probably stops against the grip, in which case, you could use a thin washer under the nut in the case you mentioned, so that the pommel would still line up. On swords that rely on the pommel alone, you'd have to put the washer/spacer between the grip and tang, which seems like it would look a bit cheap. At least this way it'd be hidden under the pommel. On the other hand, if the pommel rest against the nut itself, then you'd end up with a tiny space between grip and pommel if you used a washer to realign.

Unless the washer went betwee the first washer and the nut. then the pommel and nut would align properly.
But in all honestly I don't forsee this one loosening anytime soon. Mike, did you wind up ordering it yet?

I am considering getting some custom work done when i get the money as i need a sword for my reenactment group and the edge has to be three mil for safety regulations. Darksword armory really have my attention to say the least, i mean i love there blades they just aren't thick enough or blunt enough for my purposes

I'll let Puaul field this one... Puaul: grek grek, yik yik, nah nah, mukka mukka.Translated: It stops against the grip. So the first pommel nut tightens everything internally - and then you can screw the pommel on (it's pretty deep) to create a second level of pressure - with no alignment issues.(gotta love gremlinese - they don't need many words to express rather complicated sentences).

You'll have to try Krieg's super recipe of Krispy Geckos. Any Gremlin will go Mukka Mukka, yip yip, for those. (hmm, I wonder if I should do what Tolkein did and make a whole Gremlin language... Then again, maybe not...)

I`ve had the first two swords from darksword awhile. Now I`ve done agood bit of back yard cutting.I`ve hacked at some tree limbs tall weeds 20 or 30 water bottles and a few lawn chairs..They need to go anyway.. Both swords are still as tight as the day They came out of the box.. I can`t se them coming loose with regular use..They are tough!! Jason W

hey matrix, I was just about to pm you. I can probably still persuade my parents but it's taking longer than I thought (In a busy time in my life, college apps and all). If you'd rather not wait, go ahead and review it yourself, don't wait for me

No worries, I can wait. I think a joint review would be unique and well worth the wait.
