Hey guys I'm working on a powerpoint for my Western Civ class and am focusing on swords. How lucky am I right that I got this topic . I need a little help though with the bronze age swords so if anyone could give me any characteristics of bronze age swords in europe I would be very appreciative.

One of the most important things to remember about bronze age swords is that the limitations of the material severely restricted the size of these swords. As a rule, bronze was alloyed with either Arsenic or Tin. Both resulted in a metal that was heavier, but much more ductile than steel. In order to harden the edge of these swords, it appears that a very thin strip along the cutting edge was stress hardened through hammering. If this brittle zone wasn't kept thin, the sword would become fragile. If the sword was cast too long or too wide, when striking an object, the weight of the bronze would cause the sword to fail and bend. Most Bronze Age swords were little more than large daggers. Most have blades under 20 inches.
