Hey guys, As you may well know, on the 15th of October we saw another change to the Gift Voucher/review points system... I know, I know - it has been through that many changes that in the last couple of months that some of you are probably wondering, 'what the...?' But anyway, with some 30 excellent reviews over a period of a month and a half, SBG's current financial situation is not capable of sustaining rewards for each review... Down the track, once we are a bit more stable financially, there is little doubt in my mind that the free for all rewards system will return - bigger and better even! But for now, I am going to have to tone it down a little to only giving out review points for some specific categories of swords where SBG is planning on moving into next. That DOESN'T mean to stop sending in reviews of other swords of course! And as the financial situation recovers, I will be adding several unannounced competitions and prizes for great reviews - so you just never know... I should also mention that any current unused review points are 100% safe and will ALWAYS be honored. Anyway, I wish to apologize for having to restrict the rewards system here - I enjoy nothing more than giving back to SBG community, and regret having to do this. But as soon as I am able to - well, you know that it will be back... Thanks guys, and keep up the great work! The quality and quantity of excellent reviews submitted never ceases to astound me...! Cheers, - Paul

Paul you're a champion and have been so generous that one can hardly begrudge you that. I'm sure all here are supportive of you as you are of us. Besides, we don't want to take from your little girl now, do we?

Thanx for you support guys. It shouldn't be too long before I can offer the review points for all reviews again. It is something I REALLY enjoy doing, and I know many of you just send in the reviews for their own sake and to inform (and sometimes warn) the rest of the SBG community. But they are so good that I really feel that you all deserve something for sharing like this - and when I am in a position to offer the free for all again, you betcha I will... Brenno: Thanks for mentioning little Lana - she is a BIG girl now, 5 months old and she is in the top 10% percentile for height and weight...! ;D She held her first sword yesterday, it was a Darksword Armoury LARP (rubber) sword of course - want to keep it at 10 fingers and toes respectively! But she was fascinated with it - I can tell we are going to have a lot of fun when she gets old enough to weild one! ;D

Could you elaborate on this a little more? We'll stand behind ya on this. Your site, your rules ... I'm just glad I found this place before I started collecting again.

Thanks fellas. ;D As to which categories, the current ones are Functional Renaissance rapiers, sideswords and functional fantasy blades - which are two new sections in development at the moment - so need to get as many reviews of these as possible.

So, does a mortuary hilt broadsword, or a cut and thrust fall into the rapier category? They were the English answer to the Italian Rapier, and could cut as well as thrust like one.

I'm a newcomer here, and I have to say that I feel the notion of a "prize" of some sort for every good review to be incredibly generous - certainly seems quite understandable if that didn't turn out to be sustainable.
cheers,
