Hello everyone!
I've been lurking here for some time and I quite like the community here. Everyone seems very friendly and always willing to help out.
I've always had a fixation with Katana's, I never actually bought one, but I always liked the way they looked. Recently however, I've been a lot more interested in medieval swords. I'm looking to buy my first real sword and I've rounded the list off to a few swords that I really like, but it's a bit tough to choose. I'm looking for something that looks nice, will take a beating and that doesn't feel like a sharpened crowbar. Here's what I'm choosing from in order of preference:
1) V/A Kriegschwert/Practical Longsword.
My goodness this is one incredibly handsome sword. My only worry about it is that some people descibe it as "whippy". I realise that this is subjective and that one man's whippy is another man's stiff...y (ehem...), but I don't think that I like very flexible swords. Do these swords tend to flex if you swing them?
2) Gen.2 Black Prince
Another very handsome sword. From what the reviews tell me, this thing is built like a tank yet handles like a rapier. Nothing wrong with it except that I prfer the Kriegschwert (it really does look fantastic).
3) H/T Tinker Longsword
While in my opinion it doesn't look as good as the ATrim's, from what I gather, it's stiffer than the V/A plus it looks a bit too...stabby? I also saw in one of the shootouts that the sword's tip was very damaged on a thrust attack against "The Templar" while none of the other swords sustained any tip damage.
4) DSA Black Prince
I've only included this because the Gen.2 is on here. How do they compare?
That's the four I have to choose from (I tried to put in one from each manufcaturer except Windlass. None of their swords seem to appeal to me).
Thanks everyone!
