Hello, my name is Ian. I currently live in the Boston area, I'm 21 and I work full time in a sempriniesque retail job(YAY).
I've loved swords for the majority of my life(like any good man, I think), however due to other hobbies and such I've only ever had either dull stage-combat swords, or some cheap SLOs. I also collect knives of all types, and collect airsoft guns and gear, and rarely go and play(a lot of fun, but it seems the planets must align for something to not screw up me going. Lol.). I love firearms and archery as well, but I don't do much with those.
I have a preference for western swords(especially anything norse/viking related), but I can certainly appreciate the beauty of any sword.
As of right now I have a Hanwei Practical Viking Sword(newer one with the thick rounded edge), and a Starfire Swords 21" ridged short sword I got at a ren faire, which is a beast of a sword. No idea what the steel is, but it is a pretty thick hollow ground diamond shape blade and I can't bend it, at all. They do have a website www.starfireswords.com. Also a couple of SLO katanas, a generic dagger I got at a ren faire, and a Cold Steel Magnum Kukri Machete, which I guess is technically not a sword, but the blade profile is nearly identical to a falcata. It's my designated home defense/zombie blade.
I'll probably be lurking around a lot more than posting, but if I can find someplace where I can cut without fear of having the cops called on me(all I have is a front yard, which is right on a fairly busy street) then hopefully I can garner some more experience and feel more confident posting. Lol.
Not sure what else to say really. I hope I'm welcome, and as soon as the holidays are over I plan to start buying some real swords.
