After some research thought will order Tenchi Ko Katana at $199 from Cheness Cutlery....and shipping is free so not bad...I liked shorter blades so this was perfect...
Was a little worried how the quality will be , but thought let's go for it !!...ordered the Musashi Rosewood Shirasaya from Trueswords.com and thought would like to order one more decent looking sword....
Ordered it on Monday....processed/charged same day, The next day asked if it was shipped or not...no respose .... sent another email again next day , then got a response w/UPS Std Tracking #.
And it came today(Aug 31,Friday) !!
So was happy and excited when I saw the box in front of my door when I came home
When opening the box, there was a nice box inside, and there it was the Tenchi Ko Katana..
Looks very nice .......but
First honest impression when feeling and touching and holding the Tsuka was like holding an IATO(Blunted blade) not a Shinken(Real Japanese Sword w/Blade), but not bad for $199.
Having seen and handled several Shinken when I was practicing IADO when I was a student back in Japan, it was not the same touch/feeling (well it is $199, so can't complain)..
The HABAKi looked very tightly fitted, TSUKAMAKI felt just little loose.
The Blade was full of oil so cleaned it up and gave a couple of strokes , to hear how the blade will sound....it was just like the IATO, not a Shinken but hey ! it si only $199 ...
After cleaning and checking the blade(which was pretty sharp) , it was that time I noticed the Sword did not fit right with the SAYA, it will just slide out even if you lower the Tsuka a little , so will be dangerous to dsiplay as well since it will just slide out.... probaly the HABAKi and Saya is not set right.... this is a NO NO for me even for a $199 sword also the MENUKI looked odd.
I thought it was tight when I drew the sowrd from the SAYA at first, but that is because of heavy oil on it etc...
Immediately called and complained to Cheness(Tiffany) and she told me to send an email...so will give it a shot if they will exchange it or not , if not will ask for a refund.
Today is Friday and since Monday is a holiday here, hopefuly they will get back to me by Tuesday.
But if I get an exchange I have to pay the shipping , and just hope I will get a fully inspected one.... anyway will wait on what they have to say.....and hopefuly they will respond ASAP...
