Hello there from NY , I am new here.
Recently I began to get interested in Katana again, so did some research here on how to get an IATO or Shinken with a reasonable price.
and found few online stores that sells IATO directly from Japan but were pretty expensive....
(some were US based and some from Japan).
And thanks to SBG and this forum found that there are several Chinese companies that make these swords....
So did some research on SBG and this forum ....so was able to learn more about these Chinese made swords....the best way is to actually touch/handle and see them, but since most were web based that was impossible to do...
So at first , I thought will get a cheap full tang sword... liked the reviews on Musashi/Rosewood Shirasaya and since did not want to spend a lot of money in something I have never seen or heard of..... but $59.99 not bad
so first thought contacting directly to Musashi.com and ask few questions...but they only have an email address and no phone # and just PO Box...( I know it is a web base company, but I really have doubts when they don't have any real address and phone #....)
So I sent an e-mail to them, but took them 5days to respond to a simple e-mail.... my rule is if you are doing business, you should respond ASAP !!! So decided to go and order from Trueswords.com... which had some good reviews..
Ordered it on Monday, and got the sword on Wednesday !(it was std FedEx at $8.91)..
Impression:
I must say for $59.99 not bad , I mean there are some flaws and it is not like the actual Japanese shirasaya but for this price I think it was worth it and can be also a nice display ( I have not done any serious cutting yet).
I also can highly recommend Trueswords.com .
I will buy one from them again...
