Good morning SBG forum,
Since I have the idea for what I'm doing with my bamboo mat katana all done in my head, and nearing reality, I figured I should now start on my tanto. I want to have it customized by Fred Lohman, so in other words I need a bare blade, or something that I'm not paying for the exceptional blade as well as secure fittings (aka Bugei). Does anyone have a recommendation for a wonderful blade, which is allowed to have crappy fittings?

Kris Cutlery's Tanto III: www.kriscutlery.com/mm5/merchant ... erjapanese The fittings are nothing special, but the blade is their near indestructible 5160 that everyone seems to love. Still, it's not ridiculously expensive, especially compared to some, so you're essentially getting a great blade with throw away fittings. Or, at least, that's how it seems to me.
