In my expierience getting a set of 3 swords (a cheap set but a set none of the less) was terrible. I ended up getting a tanto with all the fittings being lose and the blade dirty, a wakizashi with rust all over it and a bent tip, and a katana that over all wasn't too bad but i wouldn't ever recomend such a sword. I believe that I heard once or twice that getting sword sets is a bad idea from other people. Has anyone shared this expierience?

In my young-and-dumb days, I bought a lot of these. Okay, five or six, but to me that was a lot back then. I still have four, they impress friends who like to look at the pretty shiny things.
Of course, I always bought them after thoroughly examining each and every detail. Now I know better, and haven't bought one in years. I still prefer to buy swords in person, but I'm opening up to trustworthy manufacturers and dealers on this here internet.
All in all, it depends on how you shop. Buy online, you don't know what you're getting until you have it. Buy in person, you can be as selective as you want to be.

There are trusted online dealers but some infamous for their evilness. I got a cheap set from my Sensei that I wouldn't even use for kata.

We talking the 440C decorative trio with black stand?? Ive got 2 or 3 sets of those in varying designs, they were my first purchases. As long as people realise that they are decorative and not for use then they serve their purpose as much as a beater sword serves it purpose... Its also goo to have those around, they look more 'impressive' to the uninitiated and they fiddle with those, leaving the 'plain black and white' ones to me
