customknives.net/net/index.htmlDunno if you folks have seen this site, but wow. I've been thinking about rebuilding my knife collection and came across this. Holy pretty knife, Batman! The Tritons are so nice. I'm gonna have to sell an organ or something, cause these are calling to me. Mike

I love the Italia but I'm afraid to look at the price.

I honestly prefer the Italias; they have a real look of elegance to them and the Yin-Yang, with the Rados Turkish blade, carbon frame, 24k gold, ebony, and ivory inlays is just exquisite. The only real problem is that automatic knives are prohibited for sale to civilians as far as I'm aware.

Assisted opening knives are a grey area of the law, however the site does say they are available as standard liner lock. I'm not going to pay more for a pocket knife than I would for a sword though.

I agree on that, Liam; I won't pay more for a knife than a sword. However, I think you misread that. Assisted openers are a grey area, but assisted means that you have to start the opening process by pushing the blade partially open, where the assist comes into play and snaps it open the rest of the way. Automatics, such as these, means you press a button and it opens or closes on its own and, as I said, illegal for civilians unless I'm mistaken; otherwise, I'd have the Benchmade Bedlam on my list.

I know what assisted open is. I misread the website about them being full auto. I was distracted by shiny. (And yes auto's are illegal under the Switchblade Act)

Well, I can forgive you for being distracted by the shiny. I only knew they were autos at first, though, because the topic mentions 'custom automatics.'

Yes...the shiny can and will steal much of your time. Heh. You can purchase and own automatic knives. I own many...including a few Benchmade and a Microtech Halo III. Here's a link to Laws and such. It does vary by state. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switchblade

Unfortunately, it's illegal to buy them online without a valid military or law enforcement ID. Plus, I'm in Texas, where it's illegal to own and carry them. It sucks, but that's the way it is, however little sense it makes.

Liam, I've read the actual bit of legislation that bans the ownership and carrying of switchblades, so I didn't get it from Wikipedia, but thanks for looking.

Same here, but the site I linked to does have the knife laws for all 50 states as originally compiled for Blade magazine.

Well in Georgia, it is legal to own, but not carry ...without a concealed carry knife permit or you are an active LEO or Military. I own a few auto's, one especially nice DKD stiletto that has a safety on it They are very neat, but I'll stick with carrying my assisted openers.

Yes...take Wiki for what it's worth. However, I posted it because the article does point to the Federal and State laws and questions about the legality of owning automatic knives came up. They're the same pages you linked I think.
I didn't mean this to start a debate on laws and what not. I just thought the work was impressive and would be appreciated by my good friends at SBG. Legal...illegal...all I know is that they sure is purdy.

Those are indeed some damn fine looking knives, but...seriously, 4 grand for a knife? At least maybe it's so insanely expensive you would stand a good shot at the 'collectible' exemption in most state weapons laws...

They are the equivalent of the "nickel plated sissy pistol." Exquisite? Really?! They look gaudy and overpriced as hell.
