As i have now had time to do some serious tameshigiri with this i thought i should write a small review.
The first thing i notice with this,as with the yamakami katana,is the weight as it is only about 1oz lighter than my shura katana which on paper sounds quite extreme but to my delight is actually fantastic. It provides a very solid feel in the hand and is balanced perfectely with the full tsuka.I found myself using this ko katana most of the time single handed and it felt much much better than a wakizashi with the feeling of security if a slight loss of grip was experienced, but then i am never that happy with a wakizashi because of this reason.
As for the finish on this blade as i stated before the kissagi is a bit rough but i will be sorting that out,as it does not effect performance it is no big deal. All the fittings are very tight and with experiance of both katana and ko katana i think that a huge improvement has been made by cheness in this department,no more jammed tsubas and habaki wedged into sayas.
As for the actual cutting this ko katana is absoloutely awsome,i have cut lots of milk bottles and quite a few beach mats and all were effortless,to be honest i think that i am starting to prefer this to the katana! As a guide to this ko katanas cutting ability it easily makes eight cuts from one 6pint milk bottle.
All in all i am now hooked on this and it will definately be my first choice when doing some home tameshigiri,a fantastic blade from cheness,a real winner.
