I like that sword. I've never held a sword anything like that. I looks beautiful and you have a way with words. I'm guessing that diamond cross section helps the rigidity and is good for thrusting motions. Have you tried stabbing anything with it? How does it hold up? Do you think it could stap though super heavy leather without buckling?

Thanks for your comments. The center ridge does indeed help the rigidity of the sword, and it has a murderous point. It is pretty rigid for its length, especially considering how wide and thin the cross-section is. I've stabbed many milk jugs with it and it performed supremely, but that's not much of a test for any sword, let alone this one  . However, Tom K recently went up against half-frozen tatami with this particular sword and included some thrusting tests. On anything but a dead-center hit, the blade had a tendency to continue through to the other side until the sword sliced out and the wound became more of a viscious deep cut. After all these tests the sword returned unscathed. I can in no way be sure what you mean by "super heavy leather" (guage? type of tanning? wax-hardened? untreated?) but I have no doubts that this sword could stab through a man.

You know what Luna, if i hadnt commited my sword ( gaz, electricity and cable ) money to other projects, i would get my hands on a venitian... I always found it was a really aestheticly pleasing sword and even if i had no concerns whatsoever about its capabilities seeing it perform at the '' Toms great super happy fun sword camp '' really opened my eyes and gave me a strange envy to get a stabby sword like this... ( unless someone whants to buy an albion of his choice with a 150$ rebate... maybe more on this later...)
This whole thing was very interesting and fun to read, great idea guys.

I did more thrusting tests than are shown in the video. the problem with thrusting is that a video camera has a hard time capturing what is really going on. Luna's right about the stab wounds on the half frozen mats becoming large gashes, but what you can't really see in the video is just how effortless it is. thrusting with the Venetian produces terrifying results. man, I'd hate to be on the receiving end of that point. the sword is very stiff and springy. as good at it cuts I'd say it thrusts better.
