Nope, but I'm not dead yet! One day I shall travel to the hell that is Australia, and by some magic make my way to your place, then you can beat me silly with your fancy swording. I think we may both quite enjoy that. You will have to get past the flesh-eating dropbears first ! ;D

Again, I haven't watched my sword go into its saya in years. I learned this with sharp swords. My mind will cut you in half faster than my sword, just don't count on me to perform this trick on demand. For the record. I have never held any element of "fear" or "uncertainty" while handling a blade of any type. I've always known exactly what I had and what (not) to do with it. I'll buy a Kiyomaro one day, presently I find myself dreadfully poor. River, is that you?

...Who? What? I'm no River, unless this is some reference I'm just missing... Sorry for the apparently obscure reference. I thought it was part of contemporary culture. There's a memorable line from a FireFly episode (Trash) where the character River says to Jayne "I can kill you with my brain." It reinforces your point about unconsciously resheathing faster (the amygdala/mid brain being faster than the neocortex). Of course, you didn't use this language. My resheathing is painfully slow (or it seems so). I do it no faster than I feel I am able. Yet, there must be some kind of time dilation going on, because of stress/hightened attention. This I imagine will abate in time.

... k I sure wish I paid more attention in biology and/or psychology. Shame I had such horrible teachers for both.

I have had the bushido 2 config for around 5 months now and am very pleased with it! It did take around 4 weeks to get to me in the U.K. but I was pleasantly surprised when I got the package with two swords.... the other being a get one free higo 1 config which I wasn't expecting!...... I have not been on this forum for very long and so enjoy all the comments and advice given. I personally feel there to be a certain amount of sword snobbery on other sites but have been made to feel quite welcome here....
Albeit I am no expert on swords but have been invloved with martial arts for around 40 years (mostly Shodokan Aikido 33 years) I have of the last 10 years studied iado, mostly on my own as it is very difficult if not impossible to find a teacher of whatever ryu where I live. I consider myself a beginner but have managed to some extent to gain some skill in drawing, cutting and resheathing and getting to "feel" the right grip "Tenouchi"? as I believe its called.
I think its true that once you have practised 100's of times over and over again until you can perform the movements in one foul swoop! so to speak, it does give one the "feel" to cut correctly. This, I have found, develops a strong grip and forearms which enables one to then proceed to cutting baboo and the like without damaging the blade, which as you all know is very satisfying! Hope to add more and chat to you guys (and gals?) when time allows. Tony

FYI, Oni's entire website is on clearance right now. Either they're going out of business, or clearing out for new stock.
BTW, long time no see marc!
