So, I've decided to set a challenge for myself. I am going to refit a sempriniesque BudK model with a new everything. Only the blade will remain. Heres the original at BudK budk.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_46+BKJBL106BThoughts?

Why? Is it just for practice, And for art? Then cool. Not to make it a real sword I hope. Still $20 is cheaper entertainment than a carton of beer.

I'm just doing it to see if I can, and if I can, what it takes.

To see if you can? Should be a fun project. I balked at the idea of doing anything with a wallhanger blade at first, but it's a cheap blade to practice remounting. I think if you break that blade out of the handle you might find a push tang that's hard to remount into anything without copious amounts of epoxy. If the handle it's mounted in is decent enough, you might try sanding it some and doing your wrap over it. Have fun and post pics ;D

I've already removed the handle and the mirror polish. (to destroy that ugly fake hamon). Its a half tang with full width and breadth, though slightly bent near the end. There was a single mekugi, which was epoxied to the tang, and broke when I pried off the handle. The geometry of the blade was very imbalanced, so I'm currently sanding that out with 150 grit sandpaper. More updates when I remove that gross 15 degree hump on the left side of the blade.
