Varmouries is a good site, and the gentleman who runs it is easy to deal with. You can mix and match anything on that page to get up to his minimum dollar amount that you need to achieve before he'll put together on order to ship. The minimum order is only 50 usd, I think.

Maybe a cross along these lines. It's quite easy to make yourself out of 6 or 10mm flatbar. Then heat and bend. Bend it before the final polish in case you have to hammer it.

I would suggest (since its the mate to Glamdring) to make one similar Glamdrings, but add Brennos recurved quillions. Something akin yet unique if you follow me.

I like it. That pommel design looks cool too. You gonna make it yourself or try to find something similar? I was thinkin since its mate Galmdring had a blue grip and a blue stone.....it'd be cool to do an ox blood grip and a red stone...like fire and ice.

I will be making the pommel as well as the guard and grip. I haven't decided on grip color yet but i have been thinking about stones. I am a Sapphire kind of guy, but rubies or emeralds might be cool...... maybe a combination.

I absolutely LOVE that style of guard. I can't wait to see how it looks. +1 for doing this. That pommel will be killer too. Really looking forward to it.

That's a nice design. I really like the pommel you have drawn up, it goes very well with the blade.

Thanks guys, I am trying to stay consistant with the cutouts in the blade, So that it will "flow" nicely. Any body know how to attach gemstones so that they wont come off when cutting? Here is yesterdays progress Woo Hoo!

Steve, very good start. What did you use to slot it? Do you have a milling machine?

Damn. Helluva lot of material removed.
Looks like you were going for a center ridge in the earlier grinding photographs. I suggest getting that to stand out before you polish. A straight line in the center with either straight or convex planes sloping up to it. Would match the lines of the blade much better then a smooth plane, IMHO.
EDIT: Forgot to add, looking great! Especially considering the size and bulk of what you started out with.

Looks like you got a great start. However, I would recommend beveling the lower faces the the cross like the LOTR Glamdring images.solidcactus.com/swblades/glamsworilof.jpgThis will make it look less bulky and give it a more organic, "elven" feeling. Dan

Fantastic looking project! I've just emailed Albion if they've got any more in stock. Cant beat 140 bucks for a badass looking blade.
Is the end of the tang threaded? I can't tell from the pictures on the site, or from yours. This could be due to my horrendous vision, though.

Thanks for the input guys. possible engraving or set stones. An end mill bit is a drill bit with cutting faces flat on the tip with the flutes sharpened. they are intended for milling machines but you can use them in a drill press with a machinist vice to take light cuts. The end mill was used to make the slots only. The stock removal was done with various grinders and sanders.
Edit: The tang is 3/16" X 1/4" no threads, I am going to peen it.
