Thought you guys might like this one I found. between standing in the middle of a bunch of junk while he cuts, (at one point the guy was literally standing with one foot in the center of a coiled garden hose) and them cutting right out of the girls hand, it makes you wonder at what point will life just weed them out.

That is indeed disturbing. People who engage in backyard cutting should ALWAYS take proper safety precautions. The girl is damn lucky she didn't get hurt. I don't care how good a person is or how good they think they are, one should never use a human being as a cutting stand

Maybe one (or several) of us should post some helpful information on the video, in a polite way? I can't say that they would take the advice, but it's better than doing nothing... Stuff like this scares me, for many reasons.

Thats not very wise to have a cutting session with so much junk at your feel, especially a garden hose. An accident involving a sword and a garden hose would only be funny in a cartoon like loonytoons or something like that. I think these fellas may have just started cutting for the first time. Their excitement and behavior would seem to dictate. I don't think they're idiots, they likely just didn't give it a thought.
The whole cutting out of the girls hand exhibit, well, that was just daft. I hope they haven't done that since. I'd really hate to think of here as missing the tips of her fingers. I hope they don't get to that point.

Midori is right. We can comment to each other all we want , but it is those folks who need to hear what we have to say for their safety.
+1 Midori

...So very, very, VERY much.... Most of all, cutting directly over a cat. Yeah, someone friendly needs to go 'educate' these guys (and gals), pronto! I'd volunteer, but right now, it'd more likely come out sounding something like 'grrr.... morons... stupid cat-slashing, frikkin' finger losers...' Yeah, I'm not my best in the morning. ;D Here's hoping that they haven't killed each other yet! -Slayer SPELLING EDIT

I had forgone politeness. But the video was 8 months ago. Judging by their actions tho, I'd say that the girl has already gotten injured, either to the hand, or they've stepped to close and cut her arm or chest.
I'm usually not a violent person, but seeing stupid semprini like that makes me wanna punch them in the face and remove the sword from their possession.
As I posted in their comments. A sword is a weapon. This is just as dangerous as shooting a carrot out of someone's hands. I can not tell you how many times I've hit my stand while cutting. But replace the stand with some young woman, and I'd be in prison.
The only reason I could see her hanging out with these guys is that she appears to be kinda awkward and this group lets her hang out so they can do idiotic things, like this, to her. I wouldn't be surprised if their previous videos yielded similar acts.

Of the 2 comments under the video, one of them mentions safe cutting and mentions SBG. A nice little +1 to whomever posted that.

I wouldn't even garden with all that junk around let alone use a sword, it just would annoy the hell out of me! What i don’t get is its not like its stuff they can't pick up! Just move it out of the way! It would take like 1 minute to clear that area of junk then you have safe, uncluttered area to work in.
As for cutting out of the hand of that girl, some of those cuts where mighty close to her fingers, and knowing how easy it is to misjudge a cut and slice an inch to low, I wonder whether she still has all her fingers and if so for how long!

Fellas, lets hold back for second on the comments on their page and consider something. You get a lot more flies with honey than you do with crap. Although I agree that what they did was unsafe and even a bit foolish, detremental statements will only breed resentment.
I think if folks feel the need to lash out with negative statements, it's unwise to attach SBG in your statement. Remember, we're friendly and once off this forum we all become ambassadors of SBG.
I'm not directing this to any one in particular, and I as I said, I do agree with what has been said. It's the way it was said that concerns me.

Yes I agree that it is better to say something in a good way rather than rag on them for being unsafe. But wasn't that what Midori suggested? Politeness. Maybe one (or several) of us should post some helpful information on the video, in a polite way? I can't say that they would take the advice, but it's better than doing nothing... Avery's talking about the comments on youtube itself- I think
edit for clarification: when he said not to attach references to SBG- I figured he meant on youtube (since comments here would already attached to SBG, naturally...)

I think you're missing the point. In many respects we probably should just drop a thread line like this and walk away from it. I love and respect swords. They are weapons. They are meant to kill with.
Watch people behave foolishly with weapons makes me sick. Because they are oblivious to the danger they are exposing themselves to, and because some foolishly inspired cry baby do gooder is always trying to deprive us of our weapons because the bottom 5%er can't be trusted with them.
Avery's point is that mocking those folks or trying to act superior thru the aegis of this board defeats our intent and won't prevent some folks from maiming themselves flirting with oblivion.
Wanna help? Encourage them to be safe.
God knows I've buried enough dumb teenagers who have crossed the line, got a friend killed, then look at you with this expression of devastated horror and surprise because it wasn't supposed to happen that way...
