I have to have guards armed with these some day. Being a carpenter is a valuable skill in the world of edged weapons. It is coming along nicely, and I hope to see some more soon! Sal

How much for one like this mate? This is one of the best nags I have ever seen mate, what's the balance and the movement like? Because of my two small children, full-time work, and going to college(TAFE) I am fully booked, but if I ever decide to go commercial I will make it known to you guys. It was always something I intended to do to make custom wooden practice weapons/mountings from Aust. hardwood at reasonable prices. My naginata costs : Blade $AUS98 Postage(to Aus.) 25 Timber 0 Labour 100 Koshirae 73 296So it has only cost me $AUS296, and that includes paying myself two hours wages for making it. Ola !! ;D The balance, well I sort of cheated a little there, the P.O.B is marked with the second row of rattan banding which when I look at the pictures is about half the total length. As it is a relatively new weapon I thought it a bit of a guide until it ceases to feel as such an extension. Funny enough it feels good, almost suspiciously TOO good as I have made it to my exact measurements. With most blades/fittings in our price range one must accept certain aspects on a generic level, however I have never had one sword that I have trained with that I have not modified in some way.

Well keep me posted mate, I have been looking for a good wooden training nag for a long time, there is nothing over here that I have found that even comes close to even a decent wooden replica.

Holy crap chop, it took you awhile, but it is worth it. Are you going to do any cutting? (PLEASE!)

I'll add my appreciation (and karma) for your work too, chopchop! If I don't go with something like a Hanwei, I may just attempt to follow in your footsteps. Either way, I will likely modify the hardware to match other pieces I have (nothing like having a near matching set, right? )
