yes, the hilt was wraped in a full same. i then sanded the same along the ha and mune sides to make it smother for ease of handling. i then laquered the grip to help protect the same from moisture and dirt, it dried to a sort of amber hue though, but does make it look antique a bit.

That looks sweet, good work. Could you tell us more about the construction and the wrap. Did you make the Tsuka core? How does it handle, rough?

Nice work ... how did you apply the same wrap? Stitching or a glue backing?
Looks wonderful. +1 K for sharing

thanks, for the complements, as far as the question of the ito i don't really plan to add any as i like it as is. as for the questions about the construction, i used the tsuba as supplied by cheness ( it started life as the cheness tenichi) i used traditional methods for wrapping the tsuba with the exception of the glue. i elected to use a modern wood glue rather than the rice glue. i felt it would be a stronger bond. there is a layer of prchment paper between the same and core also glued with the wood glue. the menuki are epoxied on the same, then the urethane was applied in three coats. as far as the question of handeling goes the new tsuka to me makes a perfect interface between the blade and my hands. very comfortable to weild
