I posted this and another, more serious one in the SBG Cafe awhile back. With that said: moral of the video is, you're not a ninja and trying to act like one is a great way to practice self-castration.

scary like in paul's video, as low quality as they are, they're actually sharp enough to cause some real damage..good thing they weren't really sharp edges, would have sliced his arm to the bone. then again, from the vid i can't tell how deep it is..i've seen enough gory pics of people in 3rd world countries chopping on each other with machetes..even the crappiest blades can still do some horrible damage.

And I don't recall seeing this one come across the forums, maybe it had, but it seems an apt place for it: No gore, thankfully. I'm assuming the katana was "tatami sharp" which is #@&%ing scary considering that all tho's people were so close. Now that I think about it, has anyone seen a euro fail? I mean, perhaps it's just statistical, but you don't see to many idiots swinging around an arming sword. I suppose the katana just draws in the idiots. Tee. Hee.

They get all the nerds (I am one so I can call out others ) all excited about swords and how they can go through anything. Then they buy a stainless and try to hack a car in half with it. They film it, post it on YouTube, and we make fun of them. It's an unbreakable cycle.

Idiots everywhere. That vid of the "Samurai Fail" however, not sure exactly what happened there, but it looks to be a well trained person losing focus, instead of your standard youtube idjit.
Tese things can happen. Just like in firearms safety. If you think that accidental discharge can't happen to you cause you're too safe for it...then you've just taken your first step towards having one.
As with the bullet, so with the blade.

(Who will likely hunt me down for this) had some wrist issues when we met up for a cutting party... a couple of times on a tricky cut he sent his then favorite Atrim sword spinning threw the air just like you see in that Samurai video! We all ducked and there was much fear!!! Lucky for us we were wise and had an area sectioned off for cutting, and while someone was in there cutting no one else was supposed to be in there... so no one was harmed. Tom takes safety very seriously. Its worth mentioning that I almost chopped my own foot off at that same cutting party with a Oni Forge Imperial Katana... too much 'omph!'

Ok, the video that Eques shared with us DID have a katana. But a euro as well. So I guess there goes my theory.
And Shadow, you guys knew to have an area as "off limits" when cutting for the very reason of wrist issues, or the grip might have gotten to wet and slippery, or people's hands are getting tired.
But yeah, idiots are everywhere. Euro or Katana.
And accidents do happen. But like Shadow and crew did, make sure that when the accident does happen, that no one is in harms way.
