Sorry, i've been such an semprini lately and i take back most of what i said... Lots of school stress (Failed in my major exams and now i've to re-sit otherwise i would have to stay back another year)... Anyway, since you guys kept pestering me to make a mekugi hole, i did... BUT!! I made a mistake... I drilled the mekugi hole a little to high and i could only see half of the nakago hole... And i mean both holes!! As for the mekugi, i use bamboo chopsticks which are just the right size for the job... Since i didn't have a sharp drill head, i used a very sharp nail to penetrate the same' skin and used a small drill head and gradually moved up to bigger sized drill heads

By the way, i tried to fix this problem today and it got worse... On one side they're 3 mekugi holes and on the other side the mekugi holes are like pot holes... Is there any way to fix this problem? I heard of using epoxy though i haven't gone further for the fear of further ruining it

Maybe just scrap the old holes and drill new holes right through from one side. You could fill the old holes with epoxy, but its going to be a mess either way.

Post a couple pictures if you can. It's hard to make any really good recommendations without actually seeing the situation.

Take the whole tsuka apart down to the wood and as brennoblades said, use epoxy. A lot of it and then sand it down, put the rayskin back on and re-do the ito. I assume it your sword is made like this, if not, make a new handle.

While your at it git rid of the chopsticks! They aren't strong enough for mekugi pins. You need real mekugi which are a different bamboo. Safety first.

I think it's not so much a different bamboo as it is a different part of the bamboo than what chopsticks are made from. It's the base of the bamboo stalk where it is the strongest and it must be a sidewall thickness greater than half an inch for best results. if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me

Here's what to do:
Drill a completely new hole, and put your mekugi through it. Then to fill the old holes, just cut some nubs off the end of another mekugi to put in place of the old holes on either side.
And some chopsticks will work just fine.
