This is a new offering through museum replicas (don't know if it's available elsewhere for cheaper) but it looks and sounds really nice to me. I'm not one that cares if something is 'historically accurate' because to me if modern science can make it better, cool. Do so. Anyways. it's a stainless steel maile shirt with machine welded rings that weighs less than 6 lbs. Too good to be true? Anyone seen this thing? Know anything about it? www.museumreplicas.com/p-1218-mesh-mail-shirt.aspx

It's really Ringmesh. MRL is vending for them in on a limited basis. If you want Ringmesh, just go to their website at [a href=" www.ringmesh.com "] www.ringmesh.com [/a]- you'll save money and can order custom sizes. I've dealt with them a number of times, and they are good to do business with. Once you wear Ringmesh, you won't want to wear anything else... Here's me wearing one at Dragon*Con a few years ago:

Bring your shirt to DC this year and let me see it if you don't mind. It'd be great to get a chance to look it over before buying a shirt

I am wearing an Icefalcon riveted alumnium maille this year, but Laithoron will have his Ringmesh. We'll get you a look at one. You will freak at how light it is, feels like a wet t-shirt.

I really should just shell out the funds for a decent getup for Dragon Con one year. Currently the best I could muster would be my very awesome nice kimono with my kenjitsu hakama and one of my kats tucked in my obi lol.
I'd be the world's largest Samurai...

Because I akin it to the hairy guys walking around dressed as sailor moon. There's no way I could be mistaken for a japanese guy (except for that one really huge actor that was in a lot of old kurosawa movies. Think he had giantism or something) but anyways yeah... I'm too much a stickler for details to enjoy myself dressed like that XD

Has anyone done any strength tests with ringmesh? How does it compare with quality riveted mail?

Not on here that I know of, which is part of whty I don't have any yet, but from what I gather from the site, it has been used as protective gear for loggers, with chainsaws. I think the leggings page said something about that. The general attitude of the site suggested that this was less of a costume and more of actual protective gear. IMO it strikes me as the stuff you see people getting bit by sharks in.But, like I said, I dont own any so I really dont know.

I visited "The Castle" while I was at Dragon Con this year and tried on the ringmesh. It's super cool. If I had the money it would be mine right now. Unfortunately I NEED to start saving cash instead of getting wrapped up in crazy sword projects lol. Maybe some time in the future.
