I have been planning on cutomising my SGC Daisho for a wile now and I need some help before I go ahead with it. I was originally going to use the old Fuchi, Kashira and Tsuba but recently the black coating has scratched of in some places, so now I have decided to replace all three of them. I am going to get the fittings from Bugei trading company. As the Tsuka is going to be compleatly re-built I am pretty shure that making standard Fuchi and Kashira shouldn't be to big a problem. Would it be possible to modify the Nagako-ana of a standard tsuba to make an SGC blade fit or would I have to go custom? I am hoping I won't have to go custom due to the price difference but if I do are there any recomendations on someone who is good but not too expensive? Any insite would be great, thanks,
-Dave

stand alone tsubas are made with a smaller Nagako ana for that reason, just file it out to get a perfect fit for your blade Edit: FYI most of the bugei fittings are from www.japanese-swords.com/ if you want to go staright to the horses mouth...

Thanks Mike I was thinking that there may be some issues with the fit because of how thin the SGC blade is compared to a standard Katana.
Not really chopchop, the Bugei ones are just over half the price of the custom ones I was looking at so I decided to comprimise. If you can recomend something better I will definatly give them a look. Thanks,
- Dave

Thanks, - Dave I look at it for the value of my current blade($AUS450), there is only so much I am prepared to spend on koshirae when primarily my katana is a 'working sword'. Maybe you feel differently, but some of this stuff suits my needs perfectly. stores.ebay.co.uk/artsfeng_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsQ3amesstQQtZkmIt was only recommended by forum member 'Grahamts' to me about a fortnight ago, so credit really is to gra for sharing his link. I am recommending this seller, as I just ordered a fuchi/kashira set from them for a future Naginata mounting. It cost me $AUS22(that's with post.), I would say it is made from either brass or copper and quite frankly I am very happy to find such decent kosh. at realistic prices. Some of their stuff is a interesting but there is loads to pick through, I have already ordered a tsuba($AUS22), and menuki($AUS9). Oh yeah, all those prices are with post. so it is a pretty sweet deal, if you ask me. Took about 8 days to get here(SYD) from China.

Hey Chop, Glad you like your koshirae ;D so when are they going on to the Naginata and when will we see the results? The annoying thing for me is that I ordered my new Tsuba a week before you and it still hasn't got here I think they have a special slow post for me
