Common Sense Aint so common at all, I just wait intill the price is what I would be willing to pay, or look it up on the interweb and make shure I cant get it anywhere for less.
I have gotten some realy great deals here, most of you know what I mean....SanMarc.

I think price haggling is inappropriate, in the classifieds. If a price is too high and the sword doesn't get sold, I think most sellers will be smart enough their price, or just won't sell their blade after seeing it gather some dust in the classifieds. Some big sellers don't mind making very little profit on single sales, the same might not apply to a private seller for a number of reasons and I think such private sellers don't have to take this kind of pressure.
However, if it seems like a seller is trying to advertise an used damaged sword as an undamaged new one or selling a fake antique, I think he should be politely warned.

I think there is a giant difference between haggling and posting a vendor selling for less. Haggling is negotiating between seller and buyer. To find a happy medium in price that both can feel good about. Haggling can be done quite honorably and can be fun. In many cultures it is an insult not to haggle. But posting up that someone else is selling for less is not haggling, it is undercutting. It is competition or sabotage of the potential sale. Not a negotiation.
That is my personal feeling. A little negotiation seems fine in my thinking. To advertise someone sells for less, that is extortion in my view. It is especially wrong in my thinking if you have no interest in even buying that blade.

I agree with you that haggling is a part of selling, and should be expected on the secondary market.
BUT, it should not be done on the forum. It should be handled between the two parties by a private communication.
IF someone openly posts " I want XXX$ but will entertain all offers" or " Will trade up or down with boot either way" then you should expect to see some chatter and haggling in a thread perhaps.
Some folks simply do not use, or do not know how to use the PM system I suppose.

Agree with Chuck. I'm all about the haggling... I used to work in car sales after all... but on the forums haggling should be done via PM, or it can become more like an auction.
